Obtain three different performance appraisal forms from a public sector organization. If possible, obtain forms that reflect trait, achievement, competency-based, or some type of hybrid. Consider the following questions after you have examined the position appraisal forms:

- How well does each of the appraisal instruments capture performance?

- Are the various levels of performance well articulated?

- Which instrument would you prefer? Why?

- Could these performance appraisal instruments be used easily for different jobs? What modifications might be necessary?

- How well do the methods used for each appraisal instrument reflect the performance levels that we wish to assess in each position?
