Steris is a medical device company founded in 1985 that spans the globe, offering products and services to support patient care through infection prevention efforts in the sterile processing space as well as offering capital equipment and consumable products. One of their CSR efforts is the development of a foundation called Steris Gives. This charitable match program allocates funds to the nonprofits selected by its associates (Steris, 2024). With over 17,000 associates, this 1:1 match program could lead to tax concerns as the funded dollar amount continues to escalate. So far, there has been no evidence of issues. Another CSR effort of Steris is its Conflict Minerals Sourcing Policy. Because Steris has an overall commitment to responsible sourcing, they work with their suppliers to ensure ethical practices surrounding smelting and refining the metals used to manufacture the Steris equipment (Steris, 2024). Because Steris has to rely solely on the transparency of the supplier that they are receiving accurate and up-to-date information, they could see negative financial impact if it is found to be untruthful
