No$.$ When you are given a device that is to be used for work$-$related duties, you should not expect privacy. I just wanted to let you know that the device given to you was not for personal use. Under Federal law, it restricts employers from monitoring their employees' calls without permission. Private companies have the right to monitor the email, computer, and phone of their employees. So$,$ there should be a policy in place that is well$-$defined so there are no $$loopholes$$ in the lack of privacy when you are reprimanded, or discharged from your position for illegal use of company assets.

In the age of COVID$-19$ our children were given laptops to use for their schooling; many websites have been restricted to ensure that the laptops are being primarily used for educational purposes only. Should a student or someone else use it for any purpose other than what it was intended for, then the expectations are moot.

When I was working at this one place in the past before the job I have now, I was given a company laptop to access and do all work remotely; I had no expectations of privacy. My employer was able to monitor all emails, social media, and internet searches I did. However, if I had used my device in the workplace, I would expect a modicum of privacy as you do not have the right to rifle through the contents of my bag.
