Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is:
To develop, enhance and demonstrate analytical skills.
To relate and apply course concepts and tools.
To develop a report via answering assigned operations management questions.
To develop recommendations based on operations management analysis
To enhance industry exposure
To enhance communication skills
To apply primary source research skills
Assignment:
Students will be assigned to small groups of members and will complete:
A) a Group Written Term Report (15%)
B) a Group Term Presentation (10%)
C) Team Charter (5%)
A) Group Written Term Report Format & Evaluation Due Date Per Course Syllabus
Students will find and select one of the following local small businesses: hair salon, nail salon, spa, shoe repair shop, picture framing
business, engraving business, butcher shop, jewelry store, clothes alteration/hemming store. Other similar business may qualify but
require instructor approval. Students will answer a list of assigned questions (Refer to grading rubric) related to the selected business.
Incidental secondary research is recommended in order to familiarize the student with the chosen industry. In order to receive full
credit for each question, students need to sufficiently support answers with relevant application of course concepts and theories
Paper Submission:
A bound paper copy needs to be submitted at the start of class on the due date.
