Many organizations are using evaluation tools to assess the quality and, at times, the productivity of their clinical staff. A current or future role may require you to create, utilize, or redesign an OPPE.
- Chose a medical specialty - this can be one you have worked with in the past or one of personal interest (I have selected Family Medicine or feel free to change the specialty)
- Select and define at least 3 primary measurement categories (our example uses Patient Care, System-Based Practice, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Professionalism, etc)
- Select and define at least 2 measurements for each category (our example uses Patient Satisfaction Percentile Rank and Peer Complaints under the Interpersonal Communication Skills category)
- Define and utilize a color-coding scheme to identify Excellent, Acceptable, and Needs Attention performance levels for each measurement
- Design a practitioner evaluation form
- Populate this form with real data (with provider's name changed) or fictitious data
- 3-5 pages in Word document
- explain your process to develop and adopt this OPPE
- define your measurements including a description of the data source
- identify benchmark sources for each of your measurements
- You may insert your Excel evaluation into the Word document
- If you are unfamiliar with this process, you may attach it as a second file for your submission
