There are always ways that we can improve our approach to change, no matter how well we think we are managing the process. During a time of my career as commercial banker of a regional African Bank, I did work to effect change within my unit that focused on the processing and disbursement of loans and advances. We worked to structure loans disbursement based on the conditions of the economy. I believe that if I had been more open to change and I would have found it easier to adjust to the changes that I have experienced during the time spent learning this course. Communication happens to be a bigger part of change and I think that if I had been better at communicating the changes that I was making, I would have been able to get more buyin from employees, thereby creating a successful change management process.
Effective communication and change leadership are two strategies management skills that I found most relevant to my personal and professional life are effective communication, stakeholder buyin and change leadership. Communication is important in both personal and professional change, as it is necessary to communicate the changes made and to get buyin from those who are affected by the change. Change in leadership is also important, as those who are responsible for making the changes need to be able to effectively lead others through the change process.
This course was extremely helpful, and the knowledge and skills gained are helpful in my personal and professional life. I think that by being more open to change, I will find it easier to adjust to the changes that occur in my life. I also think that by being more proactive in communicating change, I will be able to effectively lead others through the change process.
