OS S 6. Describing the relationship between two interval variables Malaria treatments using mefloquine were employed in 37 hospitals in Africa. The average treatment dosage (in mg/kg) and the percentage of malaria patients who died during a period of 1 month were recorded. Each hospital also specified the prevailing strain of malaria parasite in their patients- either Strain A or Strain B. A scatter diagram of the mortality rate (the percentage of patients who died) and treatment dosage data follows. The least squares method is used to draw a straight line through the points.
