The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are the most prestigious film awards in the United States. They have been going since 1929 and are the awards that likely everyone in the movic business wants to win. The annual ceremony for the Oscars is probably the most-watched awards ceremony in the world. Every year, an actor and an actress are chosen for the Best Actor and the Best Actress awards. Related to these "Lead" categories are "Supporting" categories. In this assignment, we will use some basic statistical tools available in R to explore the dataset including the information about the winners for all four acting awards from the 1st to the 96th Oscars.
Although there have been 96 Oscar ceremonies between 1929 and 2024, there are 97 Best Actor winners and 97 Best Actress winners because a tic occurred on two occasions (1933 for Best Actor and 1969 for Best Actress). The Oscars for the Supporting categories did not exist until the 9th Oscars, so there are only 88 winners each.
This dataset is available in the Data link located in the Lab 1 tab display in the Labs section on eClass. Please import the data into R. The data are not to be printed in your submission.
