our task is to research, design, prototype and test a touch interface for an information system for a large hospital. The hospital is located very close to an open border region where patients and users are likely to use two different languages. For example the border between England & Wales, Sweden & Norway or Bhutan & India. You need to produce a design solution for the software user interface with respect to the user performing the functions outlined below and to keep within the physical constraints imposed by the device and operating system. Your design must be produced and justified using background research, task analysis, and the PHEA methodology $($see lecture notes$)$ for error tolerant design as Assessment Information$/$Brief $2024/251$ presented in the lectures. As the human factors practitioner you must evaluate the available technology and design brief in terms of error vulnerability and devise the most appropriate solutions in order to provide the highest possible tolerance to user error and at the same time giving an excellent user experience. You are to design the interface with the following functions in mind: $$ Users can find the location of clinical areas by: $1)$ Browsing clinical departments by a list of categories or names $($a list of typical department names is given later in this document$)2)$ Searching by typing a search term into an open text field using an on$-$screen keyboard $$ They can see and review results that allow for selecting to then show a map with directions to the chosen area. $$ As an alternative way to access information, patients can scan a QR code provided in their appointment letter using the device$$s camera. The system will then display a map with directions to the selected area. $$ The system requires a cleaning mode, enabled by an admin user, whereby screen interaction is suspended for a period so that it can be wiped and sanitised. The admin user identifies themselves by having a QR code scanned by a camera on the device. A suitable screen option will be required to enter this mode.
