Out of the five sentencing goals, the concept of retribution is the most effective. This is because it is based on the idea that offenders are responsible for their crimes, showing that if someone does not want to be charged with a crime then they should not committed in the first place. It has an emphasis on the idea that all actions have consequences. I feel that this concept can be used effectively in both minor and major crimes as it fairly punishes a person based on the severity of the crime that they committed. KW Keysha Williams Nov 27, 2023 at 11:03 PM I feel of the five sentencing goals, deterrence would be the most effective. A harsh punishment, I feel, should definitely curb recividism among any career criminal. No one likes to go to prison and if the criminal knows he will be looking at super hard time, he might think twice about comitting the crime. I feel harsh punishment is a deterrent. That is the problem with today's society in big cities, crime is running rampid, due to progressive District Attorney's who do not want to prosecute anyone, there is no consequence or deterrent for crimes. The type of crimes would have to be crimes of violence against others. Victimless crimes, crimes against property would not be effected, by the deterrent goal. 1. Note thoughts you have in common with the colleague. 2. Share some feedback or advice in response to their thoughts or interests.
