OVERVIEW - Based on the lecture prior to presenting and readings in Week 5, students will be tasked with discovering examples of innovation surrounding them at Georgian College based on the criteria provided by Jane Fulton Suri's construct of "Thoughtless Acts" (see related PDF and slide deck in Week 5 folder on Blackboard) - This assignment is designed to empower you to notice and explore everyday unmet needs, practice looking at situations through an innovator's mindset, and to help find inspiration for product and service design opportunities STEP ONE: Explore the environment - Create teams of 4-5 people per team - You will have 30 minutes to explore the immediate surrounding and find SEVEN (7) examples of "Thoughtless Acts", one for each of Jane's verbs (e.g. reacting, responding, co-opting, exploiting, adapting, conforming, signaling) STEP TWO: Capture and Codify - Take a picture of each example and upload to a slide deck that you are your team will present in class (you can divide per teammate or do as a group) - Each slide should contain ONE picture and ONE verb STEP THREE: Present - Decide which team member is going to speak on which photo/verb - ALL team members should describe at least ONE photo/verb - In your presentation, for each photo/verb, you should describe the picture and explain WHY you feel it reflects that particular "verb
