OVERVIEW: Zielinski Crew manufactures disc-golf disks. As you know, they are most widely known for their distance drivers collectively called the Zaney's. Ranging in weight from 130 to 180 grams, 99% of Zielinski Crew's sales are Zaney's. All Zaney's are produced in two departments - Molding and Finishing - in the ultra-modern certified-sustainable completely vegan Zielinski Crew plant in Glory Meadow, NC. MOLDING: Conversion costs are incurred uniformly throughout the Molding department. Plastic is added at the beginning of the process. At 70%, units are inspected. The discs that pass inspection are Dyed. Then, the discs are cooled and transferred to Finishing. FINISHING: Conversion costs are also incurred uniformly in the Finishing department. Before Finishing begins, at 0%, the Zaney's are inspected to be sure they cooled properly. They are inspected again at 35%. Those that pass inspection at 35% receive that famous Zaney label. The label also includes numbers indicating the speed, glide, turn, and fade of the disc. At the 90% point, the discs are again inspected, and those that pass inspection are placed in boxes and readied for shipment. SPOILAGE POLICY: Zielinski Crew has a strict policy regarding spoilage. Normal spoilage, at each inspection point, is less than or equal to 18 of transferred out. Any additional spoilage is abnormal. TRANSFER POLICY: Transfers from Molding to Finishing use the weighted average method.. SHEETS: Your project should contain four sheets: INPUTS (as indicated on the back of this page), CHARTS (which also includes other worksheet-type calculations), ACCOUNTING, and SUMMARY. REQUIREMENTS: Account for costs, using FIFO and Weighted Average, for both Molding and Finishing. (Thus, you shall account for costs four times).
