Implications for Nursing Practice. Some implications for the concepts of age and number of years as a smoker in informing nursing practice includes target interventions to reduce dyspnea in this population. To inform nursing practice based on the study data analyzed those who are younger should be targeted first to prevent dyspnea in older age from many years of smoking exposure. By focusing on prevention methods such as nicotine replacement, smoking cessation programs and education, this can reduce the symptoms of dyspnea in older age (RNAO, 2005). If the focus is only on fixing the problem at the older adult age with more than 16.98 years of smoking which is the mean the results may not be able to be reversed according to the age group. iii) Sample Description The sample of 46 participants in the study ranged from twenty-nine participants being from 22 to 65 years old (63%), 15 participants were from 66-80 years old (33%), and 2 people were greater than 81 years old in the study (4%). After numbers were assigned to each gender category the total count for females and males were 23 and 23.
