4. The Parent lent $20,000 to its Subsidiary on July 1, year 9. The Subsidiary signs a 9% promissory note.
5. The Parent declared and issued $18,000 in cash dividends during year 9. During the same year, the Subsidiary declared and issued $10,000 in cash dividends.
5. On January 1, year 8, the Subsidiary some of its land and equipment to its parent. The land was sold for $5,000 and the equipment for $30,000. The book value of the land was $3,000 and the book value of the equipment was $15,000. The parent estimated the useful life of the equipment at 10 years at the time of its purchase from its Subsidiary. The condensed financial statements were as follows
