Knowing what you know about your clients and using the client narratives, assistoneof your Five Clients by filling out their Basis of Claim (BOC):

  • Downloada blank BOCfrom the IRB Refugee Protection Division and complete it.

You may fill in certain details using your imagination if the information is not available; however, do not change any existing client information. Please be very clear about dates and events, and very precise in your declaration as these areas are the foundations of credibility for the claim. Finally, your client must date and sign the BOC form for it to be accepted. While you may not be able to produce your client's signature, you must, at the very least, include a date on the form. A BOC form submitted without the date will not be accepted.

Part 2 - Reflection

After you have completed Part 1, write a detailed opinion expressing your views as to why this client has a winning case.

Make sure you back-up your opinion by referencing events in the client's narrative. You should also cite relevant parts of the IRPA, IRPR, as well as any research information which supports your conclusion.
