A validated survey, the Young Internet Addiction Test (YIAT), was used to measure internet addiction among 600 students. They found an average YIAT score of 30 points.

Say we know the general population has a YIAT score of 28 5. We are interested if the students in this sample have higher internet addiction scores than the general population.

1. Write out the null and alternative hypotheses and identify if this is a one-sided or two-sided test. (3 points)

1. Determine the level of Type I error you will allow and state the alpha. (2 points: 1 pointfor explaining your level of allowable Type I error and 1 point for stating the alpha value)

1. Compute your test statistic, but first verify the conditions are met to ensure your standard error estimate is reasonable and your point estimate is nearly normal and unbiased. State your reasoning. (Show your work for calculating the test statistic) (4 points: 1 point for assumptions, 1 point for reasoning, 2 points for test statistic)
2. Determine the p-value, interpret it, and provide your conclusions. (3 points)
