PART B (30 marks)
The new system was originally planned to be completed by April 2018. However, the project was delayed and the completion date has been extended to August 2018 due to internal problem that IT Solution was facing. Until now, IT Solution is still finalising the installation phase as well as the User Acceptance Test (UAT) exercise. The following is the conversation among the employees over their lunch break:
Jim : Some of our colleagues from other departments are complaining that the new system will not solve our current problem.
Mark : I did some of the UAT that IT Solution had requested. Based on the five dummy transactions that they asked me to test, they all worked fine. So, the UAT was successful. However, when I personally tried to test the system with 50 of our actual data, the response became very slow. Some of the data, don't seem to be incorporated in the result that we get from the processing. And trust me, by the time the system is ready to be used, I'm not sure who can actually operate it as there are so many procedures that you have to perform just to get one transaction approved!
Sue : And I also heard that our colleagues in the IT Department are not even sure on how they should maintain the system as IT Solution is using a different operating system than we currently uses.
Jim : Oh by the way, I heard the completion date has been extended. Since the new system is still a long way to be completed, I seriously doubt we will ever be ready for the new joint venture project with our new counterpart in Japan. Everything should be up and running at least by September 2017. Sigh........ We should probably start praying for a miracle.
Based on the frustration that the above employees are expressing, explain four aspects Kelichi Berhad should have considered thoroughly before they proceed this project with IT Solution.
