Part B (40 marks)

i have provided part A it is in the "info related"

The independent variable chosen for X is health anxiety and the independent variable chosen for Y is the information from media.

Health anxiety is an obsessive and irrational worry about having a serious medical condition. It's also called illness anxiety and was formerly called hypochondria. This condition is marked by a person's imagination of the physical symptoms of illness. In the case of the pandemic, health anxiety has created the utmost fear among the individual for their life. People used to overthink regarding their life as if they would attract the virus by leaving their home or coming in contact with other person and would die as soon as they would get infected.

Media telecast of the pandemic has also played the main role in creating fear and havoc among the individuals. As per their telecasts, it was being shown that the person usually dies after getting affected by the virus when he comes in contact with the infected person. This created a sense of fear among the individuals.

Media telecast has therefore increased health anxiety and together they have enhanced the fear of coronavirus among the people.

A statistical analysis method that can be used for testing H1 and H2 is the two way ANOVA test.

A two-way ANOVA is designed to assess the interrelationship of two independent variables on a dependent variable. In two-way ANOVA there are two sources of variables or independent variables and it has the ability to analyze the interaction of two independent variables.

You will need to design a questionnaire for the study you stated in Part A as a vehicle to find predictors for the free of coronavirus. Your questionnaire must include an introduction and 15 questions.

Guidelines: The 15 questions include:

  1. Three classification questions (two demographic variables and one lifestyle variable) (hint: a lifestyle variable is one that classifies interests, opinions, behaviours, or behavioural orientations of an individual);
  2. A 4-item scale developed by you for measuring the X you stated in Part A;
  3. A 4-item scale developed by you for measuring the Y you stated in Part A.
  4. A 4-item scale developed by you for measuring the Fear of coronavirus.

Please show your questionnaire on one A4 page.

Part A (20 marks) "Fear is an adaptive response in the presence of danger. However, when threat is uncertain and continuous, as in the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, fear can become chronic and burdensome. The following paper: Mertens, G., Gerritsen, L., Duijndam, S., Salemink, E., & Engelhard, I. M. (2020). Fear of the coronavirus (COVID-19): Predictors in an online study conducted in March 2020. Journal of anxiety disorders, 74, 102258, carried out an online study of 439 respondents from 28 different countries and investigated predictors for the fear of coronavirus. Please suggest the independent variables X and Y in the following conceptual model: X H1 Fear of H2 coronavirus ( ) where X is chosen from Mertens et al. (2020) (Hint: See Table 3 in this paper). You need to search your own Y which is NOT in Mertens et al. (2020) and put the reference in your answer. Part A (20 marks) "Fear is an adaptive response in the presence of danger.
