Part B: Develop a Trainer Skills Matrix

I am wanting to pick 2 units from the Diploma of Early Childhood

Task Instructions: Part B

In this part of the task, you are required to develop your own trainer skills matrix as a method of demonstrating own vocational competency and industry currency in relation to units of competency that you will be looking to train and assess in.

  • Begin the task by accessing and reading the supporting document: Skilled Trainers and Assessors Policy and Procedures.
  • Access the SD Skills Matrix Template. Begin populating your trainer skills matrix by looking up the national register of VET www.training.gov.au, a current qualification that you may plan to train and assess in the future.
  • Insert the code and name of the qualification (make sure the qualification that you choose is current). If you need help with this section, speak to your assessor.
  • There are seven columns in the Skills Matrix Table; you must provide a response in the first six columns. An example of one unit of competency, BSBCMM411 Make presentations, has been provided to demonstrate what a trainer's typical response to each section of their trainer skills matrix could look like.
  • Your task is to choose two units from the packaging rules of your selected qualification and populate the unit code, unit title, application, and all the elements of each unit into the first three columns of the template. Do not edit this text. It must be the same as what is displayed on training.gov.au.
  • In the column that asks you to provide details of "relevant experience", you must clearly describe your skills, knowledge and experience that aims to demonstrate to an RTO you will be able to train and assess all aspects of this unit.
  • In the column marked "Relevant units/qualifications held", you may be able to add the name and code of any qualifications or VET units of competency that you hold that may relate to the units you are aiming to demonstrate competency in. If not, mark that section as N.
  • In the column marked "Holds this unit or equivalent", you can mark Yes or No if you hold the unit yourself or an equivalent, superseded iteration of the unit.
