Part B: Written Report (20%)

Groups will create a written report of 2,500 words detailing their Design Thinking journey. The report document must include copies of supporting documentation that evidence the groups approaches and their application of creative techniques (e.g. include interview questions or survey responses, ideation notes, photos, visual representations, etc.) The report should:

1. Describe how the group found inspiration in terms of identifying its chosen challenge. Showcase the methods used to empathise with the needs of those effected by the issue. [Empathise]
2. Describe and define the problem/opportunity area and outline how this definition was arrived at. [Define]
3. Detail the ideation methods that the group engaged with when searching for creative solutions to the identified problem. [Ideate]
4. Describe the prototyping methods used and evaluate the efficacy of these methods. [Prototype]
5. Provide evidence of the involvement of planned beneficiaries to test and refine the idea further and the outcomes of this testing process. [Test]
6. Outline how the group intends implement the proposed solution and how over time it will continue to refine it. [Implement]

While this document details an account of the DT methods that the group engaged with, it is also important that this written report demonstrates the group's critical appraisal of these processes. For example, the group should evaluate the efficacy of the various methods or steps taken by asking questions such as: where/when did you make progress and why, which particular methods proved to be problematic and why, what were the dead-ends or detours you took and what was the learning you gained from these 'failures' along the way? Demonstration of a critical engagement with the DT process is vital for showcasing a reflective team environment.
