Part One: Theory Paper

Write one paragraph (minimum 150 words, maximum 350 words) identifying a theory, the major tenets of the theory, and why it is the best research tool/analytical lens to study or answer your research question. IMPORTANT: This should be a communication theory or a theory used in communication research in some way.

Part Two: Method and Procedures Plan

NOTE: For this assignment, you can answer the questions below in bullet format.In your final paper, this section will be in essay format.

Write 1-2 pages addressing each of the following elements.

• Proposed Research Topic (from your Week 5 Assignment)
  • Provide a brief description of your topic, your title, and your research question(s). Explain why this topic is important to you and why it should be of interest to others.
• Purpose:
  • Describe what you hope to accomplish, and the desired outcomes (especially the practical or theoretical benefits to be gained)
• Context
  • Describe the context of the proposed research
• Specify your method and explain why this is the best approach for your project.
• Briefly identify and explain the theoretical framework you will use to guide your investigation and explain how it fits your purpose and research methods

A methods section tells the reader how the research will be conducted. Will you use quantitative methods, such as a survey? How will you get your sample? If your research will be qualitative, how will you collect information?
