Peer response for the following: Hello Professor and class,
As the first HR manager the company has had. I'm sure there will be some people both happy and unhappy with some changes but I feel it will be best for the company as a whole. These changes are about honesty and fairness to make the company stronger. My first point of action would to review all aspects of each 63 employees. This mean review yearly reviews, time cards, call out, performances. Then I would sit down with each manager from each department alone and discuss each direct report and how they are performing. I will then come up with a company plan to perform reviews on each employee every 6 months. This will allow me to look at how everyone is performing and this will allow a reasonable and honest way to review pay and raises. I will work with my manager and the +1 manager to set a scale of each departments based on a set percentage of merit raises on performance and dedication to you job.
This allows the company to make needed changes from this point forward. Managers shouldn't be making less than someone who reports to them. We can't decrease current pay but following this new system we can get things on track.
