What is the goal of the specialty? How long has specialty been existence? How did the specialty evolve and become established? - Describe the training required for psychologists and other mental health practitioners conducting services, interventions or research within the specialty. What is the required knowledge, skills, and abilities of these professionals? What type of training, internships, and/or specialized postdoctoral trainings are required for these professionals to become proficient within the specialty? What types of certifications and licensures are necessary for these professionals? Describe the type(s) of treatments, interventions or research delivered within the specialty of psychology. What are the specifics of the interventions or treatments? How long do the interventions take to complete? How much do the services cost and how do patients or clients pay for the services? Please note that all students in the course will need to access this information for review/study for the Final Exam. The Final Exam will be based on information from both the lecture materials and handouts prior to the Midterm, as well as information provided by your fellow students about their assigned specialty. In reviewing their information, you can look for things that are unique to those specialties (e.g. type of setting; population served - age ranges; services and interventions provided and other information about the specialty).
