Phase II $-$ Submit one completed page of work. Students will submit a sample page of their work for review. This is to ensure students are on the right track with regards to timing, structure, and format. The sample page must display historical analysis supported with specific cited evidence from Voices $of{?}_{(})$ Freedom, Give Me Liberty, and any additional approved source. I will only be providing feedback for one page of work. Thus, if students decide to turn in more pages, they will be receiving feedback on only one page.

Phase I $-$ Submit proposal and sources. Who are you writing about and why? Students will submit a proposal via Canvas identifying the specific themes and documents they will be focusing on for their paper. It should answer the following questions:

What era$/$chapter are you focusing on and why?

What specific aspect$/$interpretation of freedom will you be addressing?Freedom means something different to everyone, and there are various types of freedom. Both your books $($Give Me Liberty and Voices of Freedom$)$ offer a history of America centered around the theme of freedom and the various interpretations, as well as the limits of freedom. The first thing you want to do is clarify what specific aspect$/$interpretation of freedom you will be addressing. Is it freedom to vote? Freedom of religion? The freedom to obtain an education? Freedom to unionize? etc.

What Voices of Freedom document$($s$)$ will you be using? Any additional sources? At this point, you should choose your specific Voices of Freedom document$($s$).$ You are not required to use additional outside sources. However, if you are using sources beyond Give Me Liberty and Voices of Freedom, you must submit them here. In addition, you can use the video clips I assign throughout the semester, as well as my Lectures, as sources.
