A major portion of the topic of optics deals with lenses and how they alter the behavior of light. A lens is an object with at least one curved face that deviates light. Light is deviated in such a way that images of objects can be made to appear on screens in focus or out of focus, and they may also be magnified (positive magnification) or de-magnified (negative magnification). A pinhole lens is not an actual lens, but it does simulate a few of the observations that can be attributed to lenses.
