Plastic shrinkage and drying shrinkage (particularly when RH is greater than 45%) is caused by the physical loss of water by evaporation or drying. Autogenous shrinkage is caused by the chemical loss of water due to the hydration reaction. However, the insight of fundamental mechanism for these three shrinkages is essentially very similar. Briefly explain the fundamental mechanism for these shrinkages.
