Please answer it with your best , i want to learn it, please do your best i will upvote, A water vapour stream at 150C is being cooled to a saturated steam at 100C in a one shell
and two tube passes heat exchanger. Onsite process water at 25C is used on the tube side at a
flow rate of 20kgs-1. The heat exchanger is designed with an overall heat transfer coefficient
of 2000Wm-2K-1. The properties of water and water vapour can be found in Table 4.
Table 4: Fluid properties
a) If the onsite process water exiting the heat exchanger is to be discharged into a plastic
holding tank and the maximum temperature permitted for discharge is 40C, determine the
water vapour flowrate and comment on the restriction to prevent the onsite process water from
exceeding the maximum permitted temperature.
b) Use the correction factor method to determine the number of tubes required in the heat
exchanger if the length of the heat exchanger is 2.5m and each tube has a diameter of 25mm
with negligible thickness.
c) If 100 tubes are used, calculate the convective heat transfer coefficient inside the tubes.
