(5 marks) A student wants to estimate the percentage of mutual funds whose shares went up in price last week. She selects every tenth fund listing in the Mutual Fund pages of the newspaper, and calculates the percentage of those in which the share price increased. (b). (5 marks) Shen and Hsieh (1999) took a purposive sample of 29 higher education insti- tutions; the institutions were "representative in terms of institutional type, geographic and demographic diversity, religiousonreligious affiliation, and the public/private di- mension". They then mailed the survey to 2042 faculty members in the institutions, of whom 1219 returned the survey
