Please carefully read the text below and from I-III answer them in a paragraph format.
I. The Physical Self (physical body and image)
- How can Communication Apprehension affect you physically, and hinder your confidence? (specifically focus on you, not others and you need to cite specific types of communication apprehension you learned about)
- Which of the 5 dimensions of yourself is most affected by lack of quality sleep and why?
- How many hours of sleep do you need to be able to function at your best and tap into your full potential (Self-Actualization), and how can you facilitate Self-Actualization for yourself this semester? Be specific.
- What is one important benefit of having healthy habits and self-discipline to your physical self?
- Write a Self-Monitoring Statement that will help with your discipline. Self-monitoring is the process of attending to one's behavior, and using these observations to shape the way one behaves. Self-monitoring statements remind us to continue working on our self-concept.
II. The Cognitive Self (intelligence/ways of thinking)
- Remember self-concept is a relatively stable set of perceptions you hold about yourself. However, to ensure intrapersonal and interpersonal growth, we need to make sure we focus on positive and truthful aspects of our self so that we build on our self-esteem. Write it in one honest and simple, easy-to-remember positive sentence.
- On a scale of 0-10, how well are you able to focus on school work right now? What may be helping/hindering your focus?
- Are you good at time management? Explain why you are good/not good at time management, and what you need to do to improve your use of time (Chronemics).
- Identify and write a positive Self-fulfilling prophecy for yourself. This prophecy should evoke positive emotions in you, and consequently build your self-esteem. Use positive beliefs about yourself to guide you.
III. The Emotional Self (feelings/sentiments)
- Define Patience, either in your own words or from an external source.
- On a scale of 0-10, with 0 being no patience at all and 10 being perfectly patient, rate your patience level overall: the amount of patience you have with yourself, interpersonal communication, and society. State your average level of patience for these 3 areas. How can you increase this?
