New Mental Health Outreach to combat homelessness. in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO- Under the direction of newly elected Mayor, Yemi Mobolabe, the city of Colorado Springs will be engaging in a new mental health outreach program. This program is aimed to assist the homeless population in getting the mental health resources and support they need to combat their homelessness by seeking solutions for what Mayor Mobolabe has deemed the "root cause" that over 70% of them face, mental health problems. The city will team with local non-profits and mental health professionals to ensure these members of the community get the support and care they need to be successful.

While the program is being developed and implemented, Code Enforcement Officers will have a stronger presence in the illegal homeless camps that can be a danger to the residents in the area. The mayor has added more police officers to the city's homeless outreach team that will assist not only in keeping the city safe but also in mental health outreach as the program develops.

We are so excited to announce some great plans in Colorado Springs future! In keeping campaign promises, MayorMobolabehas announced plans for the City of Colorado Springs to combat the homelessness issues that have plagued our city and these citizens. The goals of the plan are the target the root of the issues that face this population while increasing enforcement of the current city ordinances so all citizens can live in our beautiful city with all their basic needs of food, water, clean air and shelter met.

Colorado Springs is a better place when we work together as citizens for each other. We are incredibly proud to begin this important work and keep the promises made to you all! We are thankful for the work of the Colorado Springs Police Department and look forward to working closely with this department to combat homelessness in our city.
