Question: please create a conflict analysis summary based upon the story provided by identifying the: PARTIES, ISSUES, POSITIONS, INTERESTS, POWER, PSYCHOLOGICAL ASAPECTS, and other Dr. Smith
Dr. Smith is dean of a small business college. He has 3 department chairs, and each department has 5 faculty members. Told you it was small. Dr. Smith is a micromanager. He has a management team which includes himself and the department chairs and they meet every week for two hours. There is always a printed agenda but only Dan Smith has the power to put anything on the agenda. He never gets beyond discussing the first two items. And rarely is a decision made. The department chairs are tired of the meetings and realize they really don't have any say in running the college because the dean does not listen to them. At each meeting the dean blows up at one or two of the chairs and accuses them of trying to sabotage his effectively running the school. He wants to know why they are not following the policies they agreed upon (normally something that was discussed at one of the meetings with no decision having been made). He turns fire engine red and can be heard yelling in the hallway. Summer school starts in 10 days and the management team must decide on what the faculty will be paid to teach in the summer; each college can set their own pay. So far none of the faculty have signed up to teach the 20 courses that will be offered because they don't know what they will be paid. And all classes are full. Faculty and students have come to you and complained. One of the department chairs is a very emotional person. When he is meeting with the provost complaining about the dean, he breaks down in tears and finally gets out that he is a professional who can't do his job. The other two department chairs tell you they are so fed up with the way the dean manages the college that they are looking elsewhere for positions
