Looking at the instrument that this researcher is using, there is no question that there will be some obvious problems with validity. The instrument being used is a self-assessment about behavior from students that will compare those that go to Sunday school, and those who do not go. When giving a self-assessment, it is very important to know that many students are going to view their behavior as kind because they may not know any better. Another thing to consider is the wording that is used for this because what is seen as kind to one student, may not be seen as kind to another. That being in mind, it would be beneficial to give a list of what is known as being kind and a list of what is not kind to ensure that students are on the same page with the definition of the word itself. Since the word kind can be defined in a few different ways, that definition needs to be clearly given to all students, especially if they are going to be assessing themselves for behavior. This is one thing that can be done to add some credibility to the instrument if it must be a self-assessment.
