Please explain how you feel about my peers comment listed below; "The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) offers 12 weeks of paid leave to birth and care of ones child through placement for adoption or foster care, care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, parent) or care of the own employee. Europe however differs, Germany for example pays 14 months of maternity leave. Europe is not the only country that offers this, this is a completely different mindset in reference to perception. In 1992 Europe set a minimum of 14 weeks for maternity leave, in 2010 the European Parliament extended it to 18 weeks, to include 2 weeks for fathers. In 2019, the EU institutions are set to approve new work-life balance legislation, which will introduce minimum standards for paid paternity leave across the EU (EP, 2019). The country has not settled on what is going to be mandated but there is work to change, the recognition that modern day does not fit to adjust to life in a 12 week period and the costs of caring for an infant do not equal out to typical pay are a known issue. Parents are forced to stop working because the lack of resources and household income. it is typically not feasible to have an infant cared for and still meet the demands of a job. Americans can benefit from just looking at the current laws set in place for FMLA and begin to find ways to improve it for both parents. Recognizing there is a need for change and working towards it is a great accomplishment on its own. Companies must realize the demands versus pay do not always equal out"
