Please explain the Guassian Elimination method like I have no idea what I'm doing, because I don't.

I understand it's a way to get the answer to x y and z.

By making the main diagonal all 1s and the rest 0s, the result is the answer.

I understand you can

1. Move a row so that more 0s and 1s line up to save you time.

2. You can multiple a row by any number you want, so long as you apply it to the whole row.

3. You can multiply another row by any number, but then you have to add it to your current row, or the row you're trying to get a 1 or 0 in.

What I don't understand is what order to do this. Upper left, top down to bottom, or start with all zeros and then ones.

And the other thing I don't understand is how you instantly know how to make it a 0 or 1 without screwing the whole equation up.

Please explain every single thought process, don't just say "Multiply it by 1". WHY are you multiplying it by 1.

I am so bad at math and I need everything explained.
