BACKGROUND INFORMATION Because of the pandemic, most of the employees in your company are working remotely (or teleworking) Your boss, Dallas Mendoza, knows that you have taken a technical writing course and would like you to draft a policy memorandum. Dallas sent you the following email: Hello, It has come to my attention that a computer security problem exists within our organization. Now that employees are working remotely, it is extremely important that they log out of all company resources once their workday has ended. Our current employee handbook does not discuss this issue because remote work is new to our organization. Please research why employees should always log out of company resources on their computers at night. So that you can communicate this effectively, you may want to look at how this causes a security risk for our company. Once you have completed your research, write a memo to me that does the following: . . Effectively explains why remaining logged into company resources and leaving computers on at night is problematic (don't forget to include some possible benefits of shutting down computers). Indicates the new policy all employees should follow. Persuades and convinces employees that this is a reasonable policy to follow. If you find that the benefits will save the company money or cause us to contribute to the company's "Go Green" effort, I could possibly offer an incentive for employees to receive a small end-of-year bonus this year. Your Tasks: For this assignment you will upload one MS Word document that contains two separate deliverables-an audience profile table and a policy memorandum. Step 1: RESEARCHConduct and complete your rescarch on the information mentioned in Dallas Mendoza's cmail. Step 2: AUDIENCE PROFILE TABLE-Complete every section of the audience profile table by answering questions A-J (see Table 1 on previous page). Step 3: POLICY MEMO Use your audience profile table to help you write a policy memorandum that addresses and meets the criteria stipulated in Dallas Mendoza's email. Rhetorical and Practical Concerns: 1. Use the information that you learned in Chapters 1-5 and 14 to write an effective memo. 2. Consider your audience's attitudes and expectations about the policy that you createthis is why the audience profile is so important. 3. Consider the risks of failing to log out of company resources after work. 4. Consider your non-judgmental observations as evidence. Evaluation Criteria: You will be evaluated on how effectively you meet the requirements of the assignment, how effectively you construct a policy, and how effectively you construct a memorandum (it must contain a purpose, summary, action steps, and a recommendation).
