PLEASE HELP ANSWER QUESTION AT END OF READING. I

Adam Dark, sales manager for Shiderlots Columbus, Ohio, area, had just finish a call from Ann Moser, one of his account managers. This was the third call in six months that that Dark had received from Moser concerning the same prob- lem. She was upset because of what she called claim jumping by Kyle Velasco, the Shiderlots account manager in an adjoining territory. That is, Velasco was selling to some Shiderlots customers in Moser's territory. Moser's territory cov- ered several counties on the south side of the city. Velasco's territory was to the north of Moser's (just south of downtown Columbus). Prior to two year ago, both of these territories constituted one large unit that was covered by Velasco. But the territory had grown too large in potential for one account manager to cover. Velasco was skimming the market, relying on establish accounts, rather than intensively developing the growing potential. The territory was split. Velasco chose to keep the northern section, and Moser was hired to take over the southern counties. Velasco had been with the company for 12 years and did well-consistently ranking as one of highest performers in Columbus. His accounts generally spoke well of him, and Dark rarely received any customer complaints about Velasco. Moser also had done well since she had joined Shiderlots. She had a good re- cord in opening new accounts and retaining the existing accounts that once were Velasco's. Customer feedback reported that she was very service-oriented. Over the past couple years, however, Velasco continued to sell to a couple of his old accounts in what is now Moser's territory. Initially, the plan was to transfer these accounts over to Moser eventually, but this has not yet happened. Velasco is now claiming that Shiderlots would probably lose these accounts if he did not service them. He was close friends with the key contacts in these ac- counts, and in fact golfed with them regularly. This situation was infuriated Ann Moser. She felt that Velasco was under- mining her in the eyes of these customers. She told Dark that Velasco was sim- ply a claim jumper and that he was using his good-old-boy network to take business away from her. She reminded Dark that these accounts generated a lot of commission, and so Velasco's activities were taking money out of her pocket. She was particularly upset that Dark apparently had done nothing in response to her previous two phone calls about the same issue. Question: How should Adam Dark respond to Ann's Moser's charges
