A study was conducted to determine people's perceptions towards the concept of polygamy in family institutions. From the 1000 respondents, 452 agreed with the concept and the rest did not agree. The study was then conducted to test the hypothesis whether there is a significant difference in perceptions towards the concept of polygamy in family institution at the 0.05 level of significance. a) State the null and alternative hypothesis for the study above. (2) b) For both hypothesis stated in 1(a), list out the following parameters. (i) List the observed value (O). (ii) Calculate the expected values (E). (ili) Calculate (O-E) for both hypothesis. (iv) Calculate (O-E)' for both hypothesis. (v) Calculate chi square statistic ( x ). c) Using the degree of freedom = 1 and level of significance at 0.05, determine the critical value of chi square statistic ( x ). (1) d) By comparing both values of chi square statistic ( x ) state your decision whether to accept or reject the null hypothesis. What is your conclusion for the overall study? (3)
