Please help me come up with target points and opening bids in this negotiation for used car with a budget of $5,000. The first picure shows the goal of the negotiation, and the second picture shows an example for a target point and opening bid for a house negotiation with a budget of $175,000. please list some target points and opening bids I could use in the car negotiation with a budget of $5,000.
Negotiating Goal: I recently had my car break down on me and likely will not be worth investing more money into to repair because it is old and has had many issues lately. Because I am a full-time college student and can only work part time, I can't afford anything too expensive, and I really just need a vehicle that can reliably get me from point A to point B until 1 graduate and get a fulltime job to afford a new car. My goal is to purchase a used vehicle with reasonably lower mileage and no repairs needed, and my budget is $5,000. Setting One's Own Targets and Opening Bids 1. Target: $150,000 is my target for the home with the seller paying closing costs. I can also pay $145,000 for the home and approximately $5,000 for closing costs. However, I will be open to negotiation packages that make sense for me. For example, if the roof on the home needs replaced costing $10,000, but the homeowner knows someone who can fix it for $5,000, it may be in my best interest to make a deal. If the homeowner refuses to pay closings costs, but he offers to replace the roof, I am better off paying my own closing costs. By agreeing to this deal, I would be saving $5,000 because I do not have a contact who would give me the discounted rate on replacing the roof. 2. Opening Bid: My opening bid would be $140,000 because I am hoping to pay $150,000, and my opening bid is not so unrealistic that the negotiator feels as if spending time with me is pointless
