To understand the way in which data is utilized to support business processes and decisionmaking within
organizations, entity relationship diagramming ERD is used to show how data is related to other data. Draw as
complete an ERD as you can. You must show all cardinalities and name the relationships. Make sure your work is
NEAT, CLEAR, and EASY to read. Also, DO NOT HAND DRAW THIS DIAGRAM. Use
Draw.io PowerPoint, Visio, or
some other diagramming tool.
Hints:
Don't be surprised if there are weak entities andor multivalued attributes.
Recall that data related to the "relationship" can be modeled as "interaction entity class"

Model the following:
The company is organized into multiple departments. Each department has a unique name, a unique
number, and is managed by a specific employee. We track the start date when the employee began
managing the department. Each department may operate in multiple locations.
Each department controls one or more projects. Each project has a unique name, a unique number, and
is located at a single location. The total cost of a project should be derived based on the hours worked
by employees and their respective hourly rates.
For each employee, store their name, SSN address, salary, gender, and birth date. Employees are
assigned to one department but may work on multiple projects. Track the number of hours per week
that each employee works on each project. Also, keep track of each employee's direct supervisor within
the company.
Employees possess various professional skills. Each employee may have multiple skills, such as
programming languages or certifications. These should be captured as a multivalued attribute.
For insurance purposes, track the dependents of each employee. Record each dependent's name,
gender, birth date, and relationship to the employee.
Assume that we calculate the age of each employee based on their birth date.
Assume that we calculate the total cost of each project based on the hours worked by all employees
assigned to the project and their respective hourly rates.
We track the tenure of the department manager by calculating the duration from the start date to the
current date.
