Please help me design this in Solidworks!! Design and analyze a linkage that can approximately produce the coupler curve shown in figure The curve has two cusps for picking and dropping parts that are m apart. You must design this linkage in a CAD software of your choice eg Motiongen, Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc. Once you are happy with the result based on a twodimensional trace, evaluate your design as follows See HINTS belowYou must submit the following :
a Verify that the trace of path by the coupler point P matches the requirement closely by plotting the same in two dimensions for exactly one complete cycle of the crank.
b Verify that the distance between cusps is exactly m and locate the points in time when the cusps are reached by plotting horizontal and vertical linear displacement of the point P onedimensional plots versus time.
c Verify that the cusps have near zero speed by plotting speed magnitude versus time and matching it with the time at which cusps are reached in the linear displacement plots
d Measure the highest acceleration reached by the coupler point for future analysis by plotting acceleration magnitude versus time and noting the peak.
The following hints may be useful
HINT You may be able to reduce your search space by looking at pages of the Hrones and Nelson atlas which is uploaded in Content Software;
HINT It is possible that you will not get two precise cusps in any of the curves shown on these pages and you may want to tinker with the lengths until you get something close.
HINT You may have to scale your design so that the distance between the cusps is m ; Figure Crescent shaped curve with cusps m apart. A generic fourbar linkage is shown. Point P should trace the crescent shaped curve.
