Please write a Proposal on a topic that both interests you and is somewhat new to you. This Proposal should reflect your topic of choice regarding your Research Paper / ProjectLiving While Black: Contemporary Issues Assignment. You have a few choices regarding subject selection; however, you are limited to a subject that is discussed in a single Chapter / Article in Black Culture and Experience: Contemporary Issues (edited by Venise T. Berry et al.) only. Please do not write about a topic you have written about before in any course; this restriction will help you avoid "self-plagiarism."

Assignment Specifics:

Your Proposal should be about 1- 2 pages in length (max) and lay out a specific plan / process for developing the 5-page body of your Research Paper in which you use 3 (three) sources for support. (These 3 types of sources are identified within the Research Paper / Project Overview).

Note: These 3 sources are not required at the time you submit this Proposal.

Your Proposal will have three distinct parts: Introduction, Discussion, and Conclusion. Please use these bold subheadings in your Proposal. You may write your Proposal in first or third-person perspective.

Introduction:

Your "Introduction" part should outline and discuss the topic area, your interest, and what motivated or sparked your curiosity. Please include the full title of the Chapter / Article in the Black Culture and Experience: Contemporary Issues (edited by Venise T. Berry et al) text and the author's full name, too. One paragraph is sufficient.

Discussion:

Your "Discussion" part should discuss what you think you may find out or what areas you are eager to learn more about during your writing and researching process. At some point in this section, you could discuss tentative sources that somehow figured into your proposal and interest. (Perhaps, during your initial exploring of the subject discussed in the single Chapter / Article you chose in our course text, Black Culture and Experience: Contemporary Issues (edited by Venise T. Berry et al.) or your discovered articles and sources from the Healey Library databases that left you with a question or need for further information.) One paragraph is sufficient for the "Discussion:" part.

Conclusion:

Your "Conclusion" part should list your method(s) of pursuing your topicstep by step. What will you do first, and why? Will you begin writing, researching, or a little of both? Be specific here. Do not leave your reader (me) guessing. What sorts of writing processes will you follow? How many drafts do you imagine you will probably compose? When and where will you do research? (Be as specific as possiblee.g., "I will write 2 pages of brainstorming in order to help me think of ideas to research along with a 10- item list.") One paragraph is sufficient for the "Conclusion" part.

Remember: You are proposing to do a longer, Research Paper about this subject which expands upon the concluding idea / concluding suggestion at the end of a single Chapter / Article in Black Culture and Experience: Contemporary Issues (edited by Venise T. Berry et al.), so try to propose a realistic approach and method(s). Again, one paragraph is sufficient for your "Conclusion" part.
