1. Three students work independently on a statistics problem and their respective probabilities of solving it are 0.4, 0.6 and 0.5. Find the probability that the problem will be solved at least two students. (3 marks)

2. Number plates in Victoria used to have three letters followed by three digits (e.g.YAS 233). They recently changed to a non-zero digit (1 - 9) followed by two letters then another non-zero digit followed by another two letters (e.g. 1AA 7WS). The government claims that this will give them twice as many distinct number plates. Is this true? Give evidence for your answer. (4 marks)

3. The Australian Commonwealth Netball team has named a squad of 12 women to play in Glasgow later this year. If 2 can play in the Centre position, 5 can play in Defence and 5 in Attack, then how many possible teams could be formed on the court? (Note: on the court you are allowed one centre, 3 defenders and 3 attackers. You should calculate the final answer for this question)
