Topic: Civic Engagement (Improper Waste Disposal)

Instructions:

Part of your Civic Engagement project is to conduct a community survey.

• Determine what additional information you should compile about your community.
• What does the community think about your topic?
• What knowledge does the community at large have about your topic?
• What are some questions that you would want to ask the community relative to your topic?
• Demographic information - age, education level, gender identity, socioeconomic status (household income), etc.
• Conduct a survey/interview of at least 15 members of your community (more is better) that helps provide insight into the problem. Randomize your base! Try to include a wide variety of opinions.
• Ask at least one question with an answer that is a qualitative variable and one question with an answer that is a quantitative variable.
• Explain the shortcomings of the way that you conducted your survey or how you provided a simple random sample.
• Report the results of your survey using appropriate statistical techniques. (Note that you should plan to include these when designing your survey)
• Include at least one graph, table, and/or chart for your presentation or deliverable using your survey data
• Critique your own survey design/information collecting methodology upon completion of the survey activity.
