Question: * * * Please help with part ( b ) The truss shown consists of horizontal members made of aluminum ( E = 7 0

***Please help with part (b) The truss shown consists of horizontal members made of aluminum (E=70GPa) and the others
made of steel (E=210GPa). The cross-section areas are 60mm2 for the vertical members, 100
mm2 for the horizontal members, and 75mm2 for the diagonal members.
(a) Use statics to find the forces, reactions, stresses, and strains in all members.
(b) Use the finite element method to determine the element stiffness matrices, global stiffness
matrix (with the appropriate columns left out) all deformations, all reactions, and forces and
stresses in all members. Note: make Joint A as Node 1,B as 2, etc. The element numbers
should be in the order AB,BC,BD,BE.AE,ED. You may use Excel or MATLAB for this.
(c) Given Y=1500MPa (S) and Y=400MPa(A), find how much the two loads can be
increased (in the same ratio) to, for a factor of safety of 2.5. The values for forces in all members are:
FAB=7.5kN(T),FAE=4.5kN(C),FEB=8kN(T),FED=4.5kN(C),FBD=19.8kN(C),FBC=18.5kN(T)
