Please help with this problem from my computational methods course in excel... We are learning how to use solver or we can also use a guess and check method. For this problem in particular i;m not sure where to start... any guidance would be very helpful!
" it's hard to find the time to eat lunch, especially a healthy lunch, when you're a busy student! in order to keep your strength up, you decide to make shakes while you're on the go. You'll make a custom drink mix from three powdered/pulverized ingredients, each of which is a good source of either protein, healthy fats or complex carbohydrates"
Ingredient 1 - whey protein isolate, 34 grams per serving
A serving contains: 1 gram of fat, 3 grams of carbohydrate, 30 grams protein
Ingredient 2 - hemp seed, 24 grams per serving
A serving contains: 14 grams of fat, 2 grams of carbs, 8 grams protein
Ingredient 3 - oats, 27 grams per serving
A serving contains: 2 grams fat, 22 grams of carbs and 3 grams of protein
You know the following from experience:
Fat has 9 calories per gram, while protein and carbs each have 4 calories per gram.
You have the following goals and requirements:
- the total amount of dry ingredients should be 100 grams for easy measuring at the start of the day
- you will mix the powder with 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk ( 5 grams of fat, 2 grams of carbs, 2 grams of protein)
- the final mixture ( including the almond milk) should provide exactly 30% of its calories from fat, 30 % from protein, and 40% of its calories from carbs.
Use excel and the solver utility ( with parameter constraints if necessary) to provide a recipe for the powdered mix:
A) list the grams of why protein powder, hemp seed and outs required per 100 grams of the ready to mix blend.
B) how many calories will your completed shake provide?
LASTLY: we know that food calories are really kilo-calories but we aren't worrying about that.
