Section B. Groups and Teams Case study (5 Marks) The following case scenario provides the background information for your answers in Section B. Please read the case carefully and answer all the components of the questions. A new project team is being constituted and seven employees from different departments are assigned to work together. The first briefing meeting was conducted to brief the team about the customers' expectations and the project timeline as six months. Ms. Sara was selected as the project leader and members were got introduced to each other and the interactions were pleasant and fun. CEO and Sara had a follow up meeting in 2 weeks and Sara mentioned that each one is an expert in their filed and the members were getting upset with each other. Ameena, the marketing expert made some remarks which made Hameed, the software developer very upset and he walked out of the meeting. After 2 months, Sara informed the CEO that the members are getting along well. Team members are clear about their roles and the milestones. The team has daily progress meetings and Sara meet them individually at least twice a week. Sara organized a training program focusing on Time management' and they found it very useful. 50% of the project is completed within 3 months and the team is achieving fast progress. Sara attended the party of a team members where she met many members families and had a great time. However, Sara left the company and Ebrahim joined as the new team leader. He made changes to the project plan and milestones without consulting the team. His behavior was more like a Boss who give orders which they were not ready to accept. There was no progress in the fourth month, and Ebrahim threatened to fire the team members. CEO called for a meeting with the team and acknowledged the team's performance and advised Ebrahim to be a facilitator, so that the team can be productive. The team agreed to work on extended hours to meet the deadlines and the project was successfully completed and handed over.
