Eric Severson makes a distinction between "fault" and "responsibility," and uses the example of a child falling into a pool to argue that even if we did not do anything to cause the child to fall into the pool (fault) we still recognize that we have a responsibility to try to help the child. How does this distinction between direct fault and responsibility help us think about our own moral obligations? Thinking about responsibility in this way, what might you recognize as a moral responsibility that perhaps you had not considered before?
