Delish supplies organically grown apples to five Nova Scotia specialty stores. After the apples are collected at the company's orchard, they are transported to any of four preparation centers where they are prepared for retail (by undergoing extensive cleaning and then packaging), after which the prepared apples are shipped to the specialty stores. The cost of transporting organic fruit is rather high due to the product's fragility. The company has four preparation centers available for use. The following tables summarize the data required.(E.g., it costs $0.50akg to transport (from the orchard) to and prepare in Preparation Center \#2, which has a 5,000 kgs processing capacity per month. E.g., it costs $0.10 to transport a kg of apples from Preparation Center 3 to the Healthy Pantry store, which has a demand requirement of 6,000 kgs.) a) Delish must decide the amount of apples to prepare at each of the four preparation centers and how much of each specialty store's demand to supply from each preparation center, at the leastcost.
