National Executive Committee - Tour Report

The objective of the NEC Tour was to check and update the 19 BDFRMA regions and also to hear and appreciate their challenges. The expenses incurred during the trip for the following, accommodations meals, and sitting allowance came to the tune of p 150,000 (Hundred and fifty thousand pula) About the members of the committee were seven in total. The trip was originated after the failure of AGM due to COVID 19. The other reasons was that the elective AGM was almost due and as such the budget for was too stiff to think of. Members were briefed on the financial health of the Association and the challenges therein. The members had a very significant contributions during the tour. They came up with some initiatives as to how we can take the association to the next level. Several issues were addressed namely,

1. Projects of the Association e.g Sephonono, Security

2. Pensions

3. Leave days

4. Disability compensation

5. AGM at Ghanzi

6. Injured persons during their active service resulted in amputated legs. E.g Mr. Matebesi 7. Honourary to the founder of the association 8. BDF RMA Flag What transpired during the Tour was that most of the membership was not aware for their constitutions and the powers invested on NEC.

Conclusion The trip was very successful since the objective of the trip was met. However, members were not happy in the way the NEC is doing things especially when it comes to advocating for them pertaining their grievances with their former employer. They lamented that their pensions were not correctly paid. Others indicated that their leaves were not calculated correctly and that their former employer is taking too long to address their problems.
