2. There is a dichotomy between being socially responsible and being profitable. In a perfect world, both would be compatible fits with each other. Starkly juxtaposed to a nonperfect world where most times, they do not work toward the same end. Corporations understand that there has to be parity between profit and consumer relations. Through the eyes of a consumer, what a company does and stands for is paramount.

However, the real question is how does a business articulate their interests. Corporate social responsibility is "actions that enhance social goods, beyond any legal requirements and even beyond a firm's interests" (Zeng, 2016, p.8). This definition indicates that the relationship is far from black and white. Objectively it is arguable that there is a level of deception for those who do and do not outright show a focus on social responsibility. The reality is that there is a perspective on different levels by the barriers of a corporation

The most glaring show of this is corporate tax aggressiveness. At face value, numerous companies are socially responsible. Through philanthropy, a lot of responsibility is via actions. It is in activities that, in most cases, you see transparency. Yet, with corporate tax aggression, there is tax relief.

Furthermore, there is evidence of a two-way "relationship between CSR and tax reporting practices"(Zeng, 2016, p.8). This relationship provides tax write-offs for the corporation but dually provides awareness and finances towards a cause. A write-off when tax season comes can be a significant sum. In the eyes of the public, it shows a willingness to fund and focus on much more than just business. It is fair to conclude that Corporate Social Responsibility ultimately increases company profits.
